Market Insights and Connoisseurship: Audubon and other Natural History Prints, Watercolors and Books


Join fellow Chicago appraisers at the Joel Oppenheimer Gallery for an hour-long program in study and connoisseurship with the context of natural history art and works of art on paper from the 17th through 20th centuries. Joel Oppenheimer is a nationally recognized expert on the work of John James Audubon, Alexander Wilson, Mark Catesby and others, as well as botanical artists, Pierre-Joseph Redouté, Maria Sibylla Merian, and others. Mr. Oppenheimer will discuss the various editions of Audubon, and the scholarly and monetary issues that arise in the appraisal of these works of art.
